I believe sales can be natural, simple, and even enjoyable.
And I believe every entrepreneur (every person?) deserves to feel confident talking about how they help people and why it matters.
That’s what Renegade Sales is here for.
Hi, I’m Vicki.
If you’d told me 12 years ago that I’d one day run a sales training company, I would have laughed. Loudly. My own business? Yes — I had the entrepreneurial urge. But sales? Ugh.
Like so many people, I thought sales meant pressure, persuasion, and profit at all costs. It actually took a great salesman three months to “sell” me on a sales role.
And to my surprise, I found I loved it — not because I enjoyed winning deals, but because I was determined to be honest, human, and helpful - and it worked.
Winning is fantastic (when both sides gain). But for me, nothing beats the moment when I see that spark of realisation:
”Yes, this is exactly what I need!”
That’s what real sales is about — problem-solving without pushing or persuading.
My Story
I am very lucky - I’ve had a varied international career that I’ve restarted from scratch multiple times. I’ve been a teacher, trainer, project manager, consultant, process geek before 10 years on the buyer side got me into software sales.
I’ve sold large complex contracts to over 50 household names, built and trained sales teams and spent more than a decade learning how buyers and stakeholders really make decisions.
I enjoyed anticipating clients needs, crafting messaging that lands well, and especially the behavioural science aspects of business. But I had a nagging sense of wanting to do more to help.
Then, during Covid, I injured my back and recovery slowed me right down. With nothing but minute-by-minute walks to measure progress, I started to reflect.
Don’t be afraid to fail.
Be afraid not to try.
I got to where I am today by saying yes to so many opportunities, being naturally curious and trying new things.
But I was saying yes to other people’s ideas.
It was time to make an active choice — not just follow opportunities.
And so, Renegade Sales was born.
Why Renegade Sales?
Sales has a bad reputation. And for good reason — there’s a lot of bad sales out there: pressure, persuasion, manipulation - even desperation. But it doesn’t have to be that way - it shouldn’t be that way.
I started Renegade Sales to help solopreneurs and small businesses get clients in a way that feels natural, honest, and sustainable. Because smart marketing can take you far — maybe even 80% of the way. But that last 20% is sales. And it requires human connection, genuine interest, and the confidence to tell your story in a relatable way.
I believe sales is a skill every business owner (every person) can sharpen — just like delivering your service. Done well, it’s not about tricks or techniques. It’s about showing value, building trust and solving problems - all while staying true to yourself.
Quirks and all.
THE RENEGADE WAY
Now, my goal is to help solopreneurs and small business owners overcome their resistance to actively selling and get more clients, naturally.
Next, my mission is to provide the practical tools to enough entrepreneurs to change attitudes towards sales - to always be honest, practical, and enjoyable.
Ultimately, I want a world where even a hesitant budding entrepreneur feels confident enough in sales to start their own business.
And, much as I’ve enjoyed my buttoned-up businessy side, I’ve long held the view that you don’t have to wear a suit to add value.
Business isn’t about blending in. Success comes from standing out - with substance.
Renegade.
